Abiola.

Abiola and her staff at Lela Blossom Learning Center.
A few weeks ago I got a phone call from Abiola.  She is a teacher and the owner of Lela Blossom Learning Center.  It is a Christian School in Abuja, Nigeria that she started about five years ago.  She called because she was awake late into the night thinking about and praying for one of her staff, who had died that week due to an unknown illness.  As I offered my condolences, I was touched by her concern for her colleague and how she wished she had done more to support and uphold this person.  During  this same phone call, Abiola was planning ahead to the resumption of a new school session and wanted to make sure that she lined up training for her staff that would develop their understanding of Christian Education.  Abiola is one teacher I have been walking with since starting my job as a Christian Education Consultant six years ago.  Her understanding of Christian Education continues to deepen and strengthen.  She has started leading trainings herself for other teachers and schools.  Although she doesn’t have things perfect, she is determined that her school be salt and light. She desires that her teachers and students see that being part of a Christian School means that it is unique and can make a difference in their communities and in their nation.  Join me in thanking God for Abiola and for Lela Blossom Learning Center.  May her heart for her staff and teachers continue to grow. May her leadership also be an inspiration to many teachers and schools all over Nigeria.
